How to check if there are any network connection problems when downloading files from the ESXi host
Solution:
To check for any I/O error on the server's datastore please follow the steps below:
1.Open vSphere Web Client
2.Take a snapshot of the Virtual Machine "vmname"
3.Open a web browser and insert the IP for host hostIP
4.Locate the file path/to/vmname-flat.vmdk
5.Click on the file, the download should start automatically
6.If the download completes successfully move the file to the network drive "driveLetter"
7.The original disk size should be equal to the downloaded file size
Please ensure you connect to the ESXi using the Web client. The Windows client will retry the download when there is a connection problem, and this will not be a valid test.
